En Bolivia intensifican búsqueda de reservas hidrocarburíferas
El Gobierno busca hidrocarburos en siete de los nueve departamentos del país a través del Plan de Reactivación del Upstream, que entró en ejecución en 2021 con el propósito de revitalizar la producción de hidrocarburos y asegurar la reposición de reservas, mediante la optimización de recursos con inversiones en exploración y explotación.
El Upstream es un término que se utiliza en la industria petrolera para referirse a las primeras etapas de la producción de petróleo y gas. En este plan, YPFB avanza con un portafolio de 56 proyectos exploratorios y una inversión de más de 1.400 millones de dólares.
De estos 56 proyectos, la mayor cantidad de pozos está en Santa Cruz (21), seguidos de Tarija (16), Chuquisaca (10), La Paz (4), Pando (3), Cochabamba (1) y Beni (1).
Hasta la fecha se concluyeron 17 pozos: dos en 2021, uno en 2022, cuatro en 2023 y 10 en 2024. Los principales descubrimientos se dieron en el departamento de Tarija, según se dio a conocer el jueves, en la última Rendición Pública de Cuentas Final 2024 del ministerio del área.
Sin embargo, “nuestro logro más importante es el pozo Mayaya Centro X1, con el que pudimos dar un giro en el sector de hidrocarburos porque está en una zona no tradicional como es el departamento de La Paz”, destacó el ministro de Hidrocarburos y Energía, Alejandro Gallardo.
Por su lado, el presidente de la estatal petrolera, Armin Dorgathen, coincidió en afirmar que “el resultado más importante en la gestión de YPFB es Mayaya, pues no solamente se encontró un potencial muy grande, sino se encontró una nueva cuenca”.
El Gobierno anunció que en Mayaya se halló 1,7 trillones de pies cúbicos (TCF, por su sigla en inglés) de recurso hidrocarburífero, que representará un ingreso de alrededor de $us 6.000 millones.
El proyecto contempla el desarrollo inicial de tres pozos más y la construcción del ducto de interconexión para la producción de hasta 10 millones de metros cúbicos (MMm3d) de gas y de 500 a 1.000 barriles de petróleo por día.
Por otro lado, el ministro Gallardo destacó que en cuatro años (2021-2024) de gestión del presidente Luis Arce se realizó la perforación de 17 pozos, mientras que en cinco años (2012-2016) durante la administración de Evo Morales fueron cuatro pozos.
De los 17 pozos, resultaron exitosos seis en Tarija, tres en Santa Cruz, uno en Pando y uno en La Paz.
Contratos petroleros
Asimismo, el titular de Hidrocarburos informó que en 2024 se realizaron diferentes gestiones, como la presentación de leyes ante la Asamblea Legislativa, para captar inversiones de empresas operadoras.
Como resultado se tiene la firma de contratos con Vintage Petroleum para el área Sayurenda (Tarija), Yuarenda (Tarija), Carandaití (Chuquisaca, Tarija y Santa Cruz), mediante la protocolización de los testimonios 720, 721 y 722. Estos proyectos implican una inversión de $us 504,5 millones.
En una etapa previa está el área Tita–Techi (Santa Cruz), que ya tiene una ley que autoriza a la estatal YPFB suscribir el contrato de servicios petroleros con la empresa Canacol Energy Colombia S.A.S. Aquí se espera una inversión de más de $us 101 millones en la exploración y explotación. Se estima que de ser exitosos, estos proyectos generarían una renta petrolera aproximada de $us 2.067 millones.
INVERSIÓN
* YPFB Casa Matriz ejecutó más de $us 237 millones en inversiones durante la gestión 2024, y para 2025 se proyecta un incremento significativo, alcanzando los $us 319,14 millones.
* De los $us 443,34 millones, el 92% fue ejecutado por YPFB Casa Matriz, filiales y empresas subsidiarias en todas las actividades de la cadena hidrocarburífera.

La inversión total en el sector hidrocarburífero durante la gestión 2024 alcanzó los $us 443 millones, considerando los recursos de YPFB Casa Matriz, sus filiales, subsidiarias y operadoras, informó el ministro de Hidrocarburos y Energías, Alejandro Gallardo, durante la Rendición Pública de Cuentas Final 2024.
De este monto ($us 443 millones), la mayor parte se destinó a actividades de exploración, con una inversión de $us 138 millones, en línea con la política gubernamental de reactivación del sector impulsada por el presidente Luis Arce.
“Estas inversiones responden a las políticas de nuestro presidente, orientadas a fortalecer la exploración con el objetivo de generar nuevas reservas y, posteriormente, incrementar la producción de hidrocarburos”, destacó Gallardo.
En el área de explotación de hidrocarburos, se invirtieron $us 94,1 millones, mientras que la construcción y mejora de plantas de biodiésel y otras infraestructuras en ejecución recibieron $us 71 millones. Asimismo, la expansión de redes de distribución de gas domiciliario demandó una inversión de $us 64 millones, consolidando así el total de $us 443 millones en el sector.
